Supplying a sustainable package to the UK is important to us. Every measure been taken at the Huber factory to reduce the carbon footprint during production. We are now going one step further and offering ‘Climate Neutral’ mini kegs to our customers. What does this mean?
Climate Partner, a leading solution provider in the field of climate protection for companies, has calculated the CO2 emissions of Huber. This is certified by TÜV Austria. The CO2 required to produce a mini keg is then offset with a climate protection project. The chosen project of Huber is a hydroelectric power plant at Virunga National Park, DR Congo. The small run-of-river power plant supplies 30,000 residents with cheap and clean electricity. It counteracts the illegal coal trade and thus saves CO2 emissions. Without this alternative energy, the forest would be cut down in ten years – and the habitat of some of the last mountain gorillas.
European Malt Company
European Malt now stocks all of our generic mini kegs (silver, oak barrel design and black) as climate neutral. There is no extra charge. Your customers can trace the contribution to the climate project via the QR code printed on the lid of the mini keg.
“Together with our customers, we are making a contribution to global climate protection and supporting a recognized climate protection project,” says Edward Ros, Business Unit Manager BEVERAGE at the leading manufacturer of 5-liter party kegs. “With full transparency: the emission compensation is comprehensible at all times via the ID number and a QR code – and TÜV Austria certified,” adds Edward Ros.
We would like to lead the way in providing our customers and in turn their consumers with the option to buy a package that makes a difference to a beneficial environmental project, whilst also being fully recyclable.
ClimatePartner has experience in calculating, reducing and offsetting CO2 emissions with more than 1,000 customers.
