On a recent episode of Love Your Weekend Alan Titchmarsh was joined by Beer Sommelier Marverine Cole, Dame Prue Leith and actor Robert Bathurst. In the last segment it was fantastic to see 5L mini kegs reviewed.

I couldn’t have introduced our mini kegs any better as Alan said:
‘In this weeks best of British, we are looking forward to the party season ahead and an entertaining twist, that will elevate the fun factor of your festive gatherings. Welcome to the world of the party keg. Fresh, chilled, draught beer and cider, you can pour yourself at home. Recreating the convivial atmosphere of the pub in your own living room, with British made beer and cider served straight from the pump. Welcome back, beer sommelier Marverine Cole’
There were 5 mini kegs featured on the programme. Small Beer ‘Pale’. Hambleton Brewery Cavalla Lager, Vale Brewery ‘Scare Crow Ruby Ale’ Sandford Orchards ‘Devon Red Cider’ and Dunkertons Cider ‘ Black Fox’

Marverine Cole agrees they are ‘fabulous and there is something so exciting about these mini kegs because it is about the party season and the fact you can invite friends over and have a few drinks. Each of these, contains 5 litres each, about 8 or 9 pints, or 17 halves if you are behaving yourself!’
Food pairings were suggested to go with each of the mini kegs.
Alan gave a glowing review of the package format, he said
‘a whole new level of fun, to the festive party season to come. Marverine Cole celebrates the rise of the Party Keg – do you remember the party 7 Watneys red barrel in the red and gold?’
It seems many still remember fondly (or not!) the Party 7. I’ve written about the history of the Party 7 and mini kegs in another of my new posts: 2020 – European Malt Company Celebrates 30 years plus the return of the infamous Watneys Party Seven! – European Malt
